External trade (services)

In 2009 the volume of export of services made USD 9520,8 million – 81,1% comparatively with the previous year, import – accordingly USD 5168,8 million and 79,9%. Positive balance of the external trade in services made USD 4352 million (in 2008 – USD 5273,3 million).

Ukraine implemented the operations on external trade in services with partners from 218 countries of the world.

The largest specific weight in the general volume of the Ukrainian export was made by transport (65,7%), different business, professional and technical (12,7%) services.

In comparison with 2008 the export of services decreased by USD 2220,5 million, including due to the decrease of the volumes of pipeline transport services – by USD 456,4 million (by 17,8%), railway – by USD 424,7 million (by 25,9%), different business, professional and technical services – by USD 331,3 million (by 21,5%), subsidiary transport services – by USD 326,1 million (by 36,3%), travel services – by USD 194,6 million (by 39,5%) and services of air transport – by USD 136,1 million (by 11,1%).

The export of services to the CIS countries made 40% from the total volume of export, EU countries – 31,4%.

Despite of decrease in the volume of export of services to Russian Federation comparatively with 2008 by USD 399,4 million, Russia remains to the basic country-partner with 36,3% share in the total volume of export (USD 3452,2 million).

The volume of services, provided to the CIS countries, in 2009 decreased comparatively with the previous year by USD 436,7 million (by 10,3%).

The volume of services, provided to other countries of the world, decreased comparatively with 2008 by USD 1783,8 million (by 23,8%), including: Switzerland – by USD 316,8 million (by 51,3%), Cyprus – by USD 179,6 million (by 28,2%), Germany – by USD 177,6 million (by 32,5%), United Kingdom – by USD 156,6 million (by 22,5%), USA – by USD 113,8 million (by 20,5%), Austria – by USD 98,4 million (by 37,6%), Estonia – by USD 81,7 million (by 43%), Poland – by USD 70,1 million (by 45,9%), Greece – by USD 57,4 million (by 40,9%), Croatia – by USD 48,7 million (in 14 times), Hungary – by USD 46,2 million (by 40,6%), Italy – by USD 45,7 million (by 27,5%), the Netherlands – by USD 43,8 million (by 27,1%) and France – by USD 37,1 million (by 30%). The volumes of services, provided to Malta, at the same time were increased– by USD 45,6 million (by 78,2%) and Luxemburg – by USD 23 million (in 3,6 times).

The largest specific weight in the general volume of the Ukrainian export of services was made by financial (25,5%), transport (19%), different business, professional and technical services (17,1%) and state services which are not included in the other categories (10%).

The import of services to Ukraine decreased comparatively with 2008 by USD 1299,2 million, including due to the reduction of volumes of different business, professional and technical services – by USD 237,8 million (by 21,2%), services of railway transport – by USD 235,6 million (by 35,9%), air transport – by USD 214,8 million (by 39,6%), financial services – by USD 146,1 million (by 10%), travel services – by USD 143,5 million (by 33,7%), services of marine transport – by USD 118,4 million (by 47,9%), subsidiary transport services – by USD 105,3 million (by 50,7%) computer services – by USD 80,6 million (by 34%), insurance – by USD 62 million (by 33,3%), and also services, received by private individuals and in industry of culture and entertainment – by USD 40,3 million (by 21,9%). At the same time the volumes of the received state services increased by USD 58,8 million (on 12,9%) and construction services increased by USD 51,4 million.

The import of services from the CIS countries made 15,1% share in the total volume of import, from the EU countries − 58,1%.

The volume of services, received from CIS countries decreased comparatively with 2008 by USD 278,4 million (by 26,3%), including: Russian Federation – by USD 242,2 million (by 27,1%), Moldova – by USD 24,6 million (by 52,1%), Belorussia – by USD 11,4 million (by 20,8%) and Kazakhstan – by USD 7,6 million (by 19,9%).

The import of services from other countries of the world decreased by USD 1020,8 million (by 18,9%), including: United Kingdom – by USD 222,4 million (by 25,8%), Germany – by USD 148,7 million (by 29,1%), USA – by USD 124 million (by 29,1%), Poland – by USD 115,7 million (by 50,2%), Austria – by USD 107,5 million (by 32,2%), Hungary – by USD 52,4 million (by 54,5%), Turkey – by USD 48,7 million (by 21,5%), Egypt – by USD 40,5 million (by 56,5%), Greece – by USD 32,8 million (by 54,3%) and Switzerland – by USD 29,9 million (by 11,6%). At the same time the volumes of the received services increased regarding the following countries: Macedonia – by USD 38,4 million (in 4,3 times) and France – by USD 21,7 million (by 7,8%).
