20 april 2010 14:40 Ukraine, Kazakhstan planning to strengthen military cooperation
Ukraine is ready to strengthen military and technical cooperation with Kazakhstan, Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Yezhel said at a meeting with Kazakh Ambassador to Ukraine Amangeldy Zhumabayev, the Defense Ministry's press service has reported.

"We are ready to strengthen the military and technical component of our bilateral cooperation. Ukraine has enormous potential in this direction," Yezhel said.

The ambassador, in turn, said that cooperation with Ukraine was important for Kazakhstan.

"Relations between Kazakhstan and Ukraine are very close, and Ukraine is a strategic partner for us," Zhumabayev said.

He also noted that Kazakhstan was interested in the development of bilateral projects with Ukraine in the military and technical sphere.

The sides also stressed the need for further development of bilateral military cooperation.

During their meeting, they also discussed issues linked to the organization of Kazakh Defense Minister Adilbek Dzhaksybekov's visit to Ukraine.
