This is stated in a message released by the EFTA-up to the 5 th round of negotiations on an FTA with Ukraine. EFTA countries offered to Ukraine to start negotiations on establishing free trade zone in August 2007. Free Trade Agreement with EFTA countries is an important step for Ukraine in the context of a free trade agreement with the European Union.
To note, the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) was founded in 1960 by the Stockholm Convention. The structure of EFTA includes Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. The three EFTA countries (except Switzerland) are part of the internal market of the European Union through the Agreement on the European Economic Area (EEA), which entered into force in 1994.
