Ukraine increases steel import
The volume of imported steel in Ukraine for four months of 2010 increased by over twofold (139.2percent) compared with the same period in 2009 and amounted to 403,300 tons, the Ukrainian Mining and Smelting Company reports.
The share of tubular billet is still the largest in the structure of imports. Its share increased from 23.5 percent to 31.9 percent compared with January-April 2009, the proportion of hot-rolled sheet (including the hot-rolled coil) increased from 13.1 percent to 27.3 percent, galvanized sheet - from 10.9 percent to 11.9 percent.
Following four months of 2010, Ukrainian pipe enterprises remained the main importers of steel products. Their share makes 47.2 percent compared with 29.9 percent of the same period of 2009. The engineering industry enterprises rank second with a share of 18.1 percent (21.4 percent). Metal trading companies rank third on supply of imported steel, their share is 14.4 percent (35.4 percent).
