21 may 2010 13:00 Cargo transportation grows in Ukraine
Ukraine's cargo transportation by rail rose by 9.8% in the first quarter of 2010 year-on-year, to 95.5 million tons.

Transit transportation amounted to 11.86 million tons, the press service of Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways) has reported.

In the first three months of 2010, revenues were UAH 9.8 billion (UAH 7.93 / USD 1), which was 12.2% more than last year. Revenues from transportation rose by 10.7%.

Such an increase can be explained by a 7% increase in revenues from transit transportation. Net profit totaled UAH 89.8 million and grew by UAH 58.3 million compared to Q1, 2009.

In the first quarter of 2010, 109.2 million passengers used the services of railway transport, which was 1.3% less than in the same period of 2009
