Ukraine is interested in large-scale cooperation with Chinese companies in preparation for the finals of the UEFA European Football Championship in 2012.

Foreign Minister Kostiantyn Hryshchenko said this after talks with his Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi.

"We believe that there is extraordinary potential for the participation of Chinese companies in preparations for Euro-2012," he said, commenting on the results of the negotiations.

In particular, Hryshchenko says, to Ukraine and China interaction in the fields of investment, financing of joint projects, especially in infrastructure, is of a special importance.

During the negotiations, the foreign ministers of Ukraine and China discussed a wide range of issues, including improvement of bilateral cooperation, restoration and revitalization of the intergovernmental commission on trade-economic and scientific-technical cooperation, cooperation in aviation, aerospace, agriculture and other fields.

At the same time, the parties pointed to "enormous opportunities" in the field of new technologies. A good contributing factor to enhancement of bilateral cooperation, according to the parties, is active cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, which is, in particular, that about 10 thousand Chinese students study in Ukraine, and about 700 Ukrainian in China.

For his part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, noted the "extraordinary potential" of Ukrainian-Chinese cooperation and the need for its revitalization.

In particular, for this purpose Ukraine will be visited in the near future by Wang Yang, a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, party secretary of Guangdong Province, which is one of the strongest in China by economic performance.
