EU to give Ukraine extra EUR 3.4 million for introduction of Energy Strategy
The European Union has extended EUR 3.424,96 million for funding its project of additional technical assistance to budgetary support for the introduction of Energy Strategy of Ukraine, says the Delegation of the European Union in Ukraine.
For the first time this financing is provided to support implementation of the Energy Strategy of Ukraine.
The project is being implemented by the EU Consortium led by KANTOR Management Consultants SA (Greece). The Consortium also includes Ecorys Nederland BV (Netherlands), European Profiles S.A. (Greece), INDRA SISTEMAS S.A. (Spain), Mercados - Energy Markets International (EMI) S.A. (Spain) and Poyry AS (Norway).
In September 2008, the European Union granted 82 million euros to finance the program of support to implementation of the Energy Strategy of Ukraine. The project duration is 18 months.
In March 2006, Ukraine adopted the Energy Strategy for the period of 2006-2030. It outlines the main objectives and priorities of the policy of Ukraine in the energy sector and covers all areas of the energy industry.
The main objectives of this strategy are to strengthen the role of Ukraine as a key transit country, and improve its energy security.
