Foreign Minister Kostiantyn Hryshchenko and Special Envoy of U.S. Department of State for Eurasian energy issues Richard Morningstar discussed topical issues of strategic partnership between the two countries, UKRINFORM reports with reference to the official website of the Foreign Ministry.

In particular, the parties discussed measures on practical realization of the agreements between the Presidents of Ukraine and the United States reached during the Nuclear Security Summit in Washington, April 12, 2010.

On the American side, readiness was expressed to assist Ukraine by consultations and to render technical assistance through existing mechanisms of energy cooperation, in particular, the Ukrainian-American energy security group.

The perspective areas of cooperation were noted, such as reduction of energy consumption and possibility of developing alternative sources of energy.

During the meeting, problems of European and regional energy security were also discussed.
