27 june 2010 18:08 UNICEF regional director to visit Ukraine on June 22-24
UNICEF Regional Director for Eastern and Central Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CEE/CIS) Steven Allen will visit Ukraine on June 22-24.

During his visit, the official will discuss the implementation of programs in the sphere of ensuring the health of children and protecting their rights, as well as opportunities for extending partnership as part of a new program of cooperation for 2012-2016 between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the organization's press service reported.

Steven Allen will meet, in particular, with Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, Deputy Prime Minister Volodymyr Semynozhenko, Health Minister Zinoviy Mytnyk, Family, Youth and Sports Minister Ravil Safiullin, as well as representatives of non-governmental and donor organizations.

During the meetings, the UNICEF regional director is to familiarize himself with the problems faced by Ukraine in the sphere of improving the lives of children, and the work that has already been undertaken by the Ukrainian government and UNICEF.

UNICEF opened an office in Kyiv in 1997.
