Milk production in Ukraine grew by 6.2% in May 2010 compared with April 2010, from 63,700 tons to 67,700 tons, the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine said in a statement.

At the same time, milk production declined by 3.8% compared with May 2009. In general, milk production amounted to 309,200 tons in the first five months of 2010, compared to 307,400 tons in the same period in 2009.

Butter production rose significantly in May 2010 compared to April 2010 (by 43%), from 6,400 to 9,200 tons. Compared to May 2009, butter production decreased by 4% to 9,200 tons. In general, in the first five months of 2010, butter production amounted to 27,200 tons (+5.4%).

Fat cheese production in May 2010 grew by 12%, from 18,300 tons in April 2010 to 20,500 tons in May 2010.

The production of dairy products rose by 18% in May 2010, from 37,500 tons in April 2010 to 44,300 tons in May 2010. In general, the output of dairy products amounted to 195,200 tons (-5%) in January-May 2010.
