Ukraine, Israel parliaments want to intensify cooperation
Verkhovna Rada Chairman Volodymyr Lytvyn met Deputy Speaker of the Israeli Knesset Alex Miller on Thursday, the parliament's press service told UKRINFORM.
During the meeting, the parties noted the need for intensification and expansion of bilateral relations at all levels, in particular, in the parliamentary component. "We appreciate high level of a political dialogue and hope that a visit of the President of the State of Israel to Ukraine will add a new quality to bilateral relations," Lytvyn said.
Lytvyn is convinced that the Knesset delegation's visit will allow to intensify inter-parliamentary cooperation at the level of factions, committees and friendship groups.
According to the Ukrainian speaker, it is necessary "to come to systemic relations," and friendship groups should develop a relevant cooperation plan.
Lytvyn also considers it advisable to discuss the introduction of free trade regime between Ukraine and Israel that will promote the development of the economy and tourist spheres of both countries. Further development of cooperation in the humanitarian and scientific spheres is perspective, according to the Verkhovna Rada chairman.
Lytvyn also thanked the Israeli party for a decision to introduce a visa free regime for Ukrainian citizens. In his turn, Alex Miller expressed hope for an equal decision of Ukraine.
